Handling an account-name mismatch in an offshore call center

Stop unsafe changes, record the mismatch precisely, and route the case to the owner who can resolve it.

A name mismatch is a reason to pause, not a reason to guess which record is correct. The agent should state which approved field cannot be reconciled and repeat the permitted verification step without revealing the value already on file.

Common explanations may include a spelling error, a recent change, a business account, or the wrong customer record. None of those possibilities proves identity. Follow the written exception path and keep the requested account action on hold.

Capture the customer request, the mismatched field, checks completed, evidence requested by policy, and the receiving owner. Do not copy identity documents into notes or general chat unless that channel is explicitly approved.

Supervisors should sample these cases for correct stops, accurate routing, and customer explanations. A lower handle time is not a useful success measure when the safe outcome requires specialist review.
