Offshore call center shift overlap for safer handoffs
Use a deliberate overlap window to review open customer promises, exceptions, and queue risks before ownership changes.
Overlap is most useful when it has a short agenda. Review callbacks due soon, unresolved escalations, system or queue changes, and customers waiting on a promise. Leave routine completed work out of the live discussion.
Use one shared list with an owner, due time, current status, and next action. The outgoing shift explains context; the incoming shift confirms acceptance and asks about anything that cannot be completed safely.
Measure whether overlap reduces missed promises and repeated customer explanations. If the meeting grows into a broad status call, move general reporting elsewhere and protect the handoff time for exceptions.
