Call center service recovery authority: define what can happen next
Set clear limits for service recovery so customers receive a helpful response without unapproved promises.
Write recovery authority as decisions, not vague encouragement. Specify which acknowledgement, correction, reschedule, or follow-up a representative may offer and which remedies require a named manager.
Pair every permitted action with evidence and a stop rule. A customer may receive a correction for a documented service miss, while a disputed charge or unusual exception moves to a specialist with the record intact.
Review recovery decisions for consistency. If similar cases receive different outcomes, clarify the rule and coach the conversation instead of expanding authority by guesswork.
